The Control of Asbestos Regulations places specific responsibility on Duty Holders within organisations to be proactive in managing asbestos. Conducting Asbestos Surveys is a crucial step toward meeting legal requirements for your building.
Compliance is an ongoing responsibility – an Asbestos Management Plan should be produced and any recommended remedial actions should be planned in and undertaken. There are also ongoing training requirements to ensure that your staff are safeguarded. Enquin can assist with all of this.

Management Survey
An Asbestos Management Survey is required to identify and assess asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) that could be disturbed during normal occupation, cleaning and routine maintenance activities.
Its purpose is to enable the duty holder to manage asbestos risk effectively by maintaining an up-to-date asbestos register and implementing an appropriate management plan.
This survey should be completed for all non-domestic premises constructed before the year 2000 and should be reviewed periodically, or whenever there are changes to the building’s structure, use or condition. This review is often undertaken in the form of an annual Re-Inspection Survey. This type of survey is very cost effective as it removes the management of non asbestos materials from the Management Plan.
Refurbishment Survey
An Asbestos Refurbishment Survey must be undertaken before any refurbishment or intrusive maintenance work is carried out.
The survey is fully intrusive and designed to locate and describe all ACMs within the scope of proposed works so they can be safely managed or removed prior to commencement.
Because of the nature of the inspection, it should only be conducted in areas that have been vacated and are appropriately controlled to prevent potential fibre release to occupied parts of the building.
Demolition Survey
An Asbestos Demolition Survey is required prior to any demolition project, regardless of building size or type.
It is the most comprehensive and intrusive survey type, aiming to identify all ACMs within the structure to ensure they can be safely removed before demolition begins.
This survey is essential for compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and to ensure the safety of workers, contractors, and the environment during demolition activities.
